Tuesday 18th September – Leeds/Liverpool Canal and Pennine Way

17 walkers today plus two dogs. Dominated by our lovely ladies from Mears Care in Kirklees, Manchester and Hadlingden, plus a number of social housing colleagues from the Yorkshire area.

Beautiful days’ weather along the picturesque Leeds/Liverpool Canal, starting from the village of Gargrave. Canal very busy with a large number of locks.   The canal is one of the most understated walks I have done, with excellent views over the Yorkshire, and of course, Lancashire countryside.

Easy walking at your own pace and very peaceful – no other walkers confronted in the first 1.5 hours of the walk.   Congratulations to Ian Bunting for his excellent skills in dealing with/looking after our slower walkers!

A good lunch at the Cross Keys pub, and then a pleasant afternoon walk across fields, part of the Pennine Way.

Many thanks to everyone who took part today and particular thanks to Ian and Maggie Devine for making sure the day/walk went smoothly.
