Ten people joined us for the last leg of a fairly gruelling week of walking – this one along the banks of the Thames.
Started at Vauxhall; going past the tourist sites of the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and the London Eye and then walking past City Hall on towards “Eastenders” world. A bit of excitement as Tower Bridge was due to be opened to allow a tall ship through, and then on into the deepest parts of the East End.
As usual an excellent lunch at The Ship and Whale, and then the final slog through Greenwich past the O2 and onto the Thames Barrier.
My annual confession is that I know the short route which cuts out the whole of the loop around the O2. I didn’t share this with my colleagues and therefore I arrived at the end before the rest saving myself probably a couple of miles. Confession over…
Thanks to everybody for their great support during the week of walking throughout England….
