Sunday 20th October

Team 2 Arrival day – We all arrived safely after a long and tiring flight only to be greeted by heavy rain and lower temperatures than in the UK! We were met at the airport by the local driver, builder, organiser and all round odd jobber Bob Holt. He is so familiar with the area that not only is he the local tourist guide for the team but it would appear he has been adopted as a “local”

We were then taken to Zenzelene to be introduced to the children and the wonderful people who run the orphanage under the wings of lovely Gogo We were able to see some of the great work carried out by the many Footprint volunteers over the last couple of years (photo of Zenzelene sign and buildings) and meet Nthuseng the young student who is being sponsored to go to Vaal University by Footprints, thanks to the funds raised by everybody.

After a great and welcoming lunch and fun with some of the children (picture of Muza and friends) we soon forgot there was rain and unsettled weather. The team had a great 1st day getting to know each other and familiarising themselves before work begins at 7.30 am sharp!!
