A great days’ walking on Hadrian’s Way today
21 walkers, predominantly from the North East, but including two of our colleagues from Bedford, one of them dressed as a Roman! Weather fine most of the way, with just a slight drizzle occasionally along the path.
A good stop on the Quayside in Newcastle city centre for a pleasant lunch and then all dressed up in Big Tidy Up bibs, and armed ourselves with litter pick grabbers and bags Great idea to do the tidy up. Amazing how much rubbish you can collect. Thank you to Joan Telford in Lisburn for the idea, and to Keep Britain Tidy for the free bibs and bags.
We walked the final 6 miles to the Segedunum Roman Fort which signified the end of the wall, at a surprising place called Wallsend
Well done to Kevin Morrow and his team for general organisation and logistics.
In the car on my way to Leeds as I write…
