Leg 8 Maidenhead to Runnymede

Well all I can say about last night was 4 South American girls lots of red wine and baby lamb !! Any more will cost you a drink .

Today was certainly the hottest start to the day with temperatures in the low 70,s from early morning. Ian Aspinall and Shaun had set off from the North West in the early hours to be with us for our prompt start. No jet lag today – Trevor !

This was primarily a day allocated to Travis Perkins and John Peachey and his team did us proud with a full complement. Fantastic views with a mixture of great Thames path views then on the road and onto Windsor with the imposing castle in the background.

Another good lunch at the Riverside thanks to Anteneh and Willo and we were onto our longest after lunch walk. I was glad to see the finish line at Runnymede.

What date was the Magna Carta signed at Runnymede ? E mail guesses please .

Off to see my aging Mother tonight.
